Earlier, The Union cabinet committee meeting was convened in New Delhi to decide on the recommendation of Karnataka Governor H R Bharadwaj to impose President's rule. The Governor recommended it on the grounds that no single party or faction had the status of a simple majority, to say the least, and the B S Yeddyurappa government no longer deserves to run the affairs of the state. Reactions from some circles point to such a decision being a highly 'unanimous' one, including those at the helm of affairs of the BJP at the centre.
However, it was reported late yesterday that B S Yeddyurappa has won back rebels and there was no unforeseen need of the proposed cabinet meeting or to impose the President's rule. A clear signal to this effect has also been 'transmitted' the Governor H R Bharadwaj. The MLAs, who have been camping in Delhi for the past couple of days, shot off a letter to Governor H R Bhardwaj conveying their decision to change their stance and support the government. "We wish to put to rest all such speculation and we hereby confirm that we continue to be MLAs of the BJP and we extend unqualified support to the Government led by B S Yeddyurappa," the rebel MLAs said in their letter, taking back their 'communique' of revolt.
