It was sold on Saturday 7th November 2009, to a rather wealthy Texan gentleman, Michael J. Gould, in the luxurious setting of the salon ‘Empire’ in the Hotel de Paris in Monte Carlo for the modest price of $2.7 million.
The Aeternitas Mega 4™ features 36 complications, 25 of whic
h are visible on the dial and on the back, comprising 1,483 individual components.
The hand-over of the watch event was witnessed by 400 guests, including representatives of the government of Monaco.
The creator of this most expensive watch and of many others, is Franck Muller, born in Switzerland (La Chaux-de-Fonds) in July 1958. His passion is creating obsessively complicated, revolutionary timepieces, which are much appreciated by connoisseurs and celebrities the world over including amongst others Robin Williams, Demi Moore and Elton John.
