Hyundai i10 Electric Car, Hyundai India launches Zero emission car

Hyundai Auto has launched the new version of its i10 car in New Delhi at the ongoing Auto Expo. The Korean auto giant made public the electric version of its compact car 'i10'.

The Hyundai i10 Electric is a production ready model with zero emissions that will go on sale on the company's home market in the second half of 2010.

The Hyundai i10 Electric is powered by a 49kW electric motor that's powered by a 16kWh battery. With this drivetrain, the Hyundai i10 Electric has a range of around 100 miles and a top speed of 80 mph. The Hyundai i10 Electric can be re-charged in two ways: with a 220V household current which is slower or with a 415V industrial-strength current which is quicker. Under the quick cycle, the battery can be recharged to within 85 percent of its capacity within 15 minutes. Under the normal cycle using a 220V household current, 100 percent power will be attained within five hours.
